MOSCOW — According to global reports, Russia has recieved poor marks in terms of competitiveness and business, with corruption being its biggest problem. Russia ranks 120th out of 183 countries in the World Bank’s annual “Doing Business” report and has mostly slid because of tough competition. The competition includes the top three in the overall ranking—Singapore, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. For the first time, the United States is not included in the top three. It is ranked at No. 4.

Demography of European Russia
The rural population of European Russia is very dense in the western areas of the country, close to the borders of Ukraine. Surprisingly, however, Moscow also has a dense rural population surrounding the capital city. The urban populations are dense in the large cities including Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Kiev but are more sparse inland, close to the Urals.
